But seriously, since it is summer and there are no bible studies going on in my area, I decided that God and I would do one together. Who better to study with then the One who authored the book, right? I mean, if someone had a chance to sit down every morning with an author they admired greatly they would do it, right?
I think there are different seasons in our lives: a season of intense study with a group, a season of one-on-one teaching with a wise friend in the church and I think sometimes we have a season of being alone and studying with God. The latter is the season I am in now. I have done group studies and they are wonderful. I have also had the privilege of being discipled by a wonderful godly woman and I am looking forward to the day that the Lord brings another women into my life to learn from. But for now, while I wait, I will study alone...with God.
I am learning about how to be a disciple of Christ, not just a "christian" or a member of a church. Which are both important but as a saying goes, "Going to church doesn't make you a christian anymore then standing in a garage makes you a car!"
Through this discipleship course I hope to develop a deeper, more personal, lifelong relationship with Jesus Christ. I pray that He will transform me and that I will start to become more like Him. After all, why set our sights on being like anyone else except the perfect Creator Himself.
So, please pray for me as I go on this journey with the most amazing Author I know!
